Women's health coverage bothersome

Some of the things I'm finding out in regards to women's healthcare under the ACA are kind of unsatisfactory.

Before I posted a diary about healthcare coverage Illinois thinking that it would be better because of Illinois Healthy Women:http://www.illinoishealthywomen.com/.

Unfortunately as user tardis10 pointed out that program ends in December 2014.

Because Illinois Healthy Women coverage is limited to family planning and related services, it is not considered minimum essential coverage. Therefore, it does not meet the federal requirement for health coverage. Illinois Healthy Women will continue only through December 2014 to give time for those currently enrolled to get health coverage that meets the federal requirements. The types of health coverage that meet federal requirements are Medicaid, job-based insurance that covers certain benefits, some military coverage or private health insurance through the Marketplace.

The issue of private insurance coverage for abortion care became highly politicized during deliberations over the ACA. As a result, the ACA explicitly allows states to enact—or repeal—laws restricting coverage of abortion within marketplace plans. Currently, 26 states and the District of Columbia permit such coverage, while 24 states have banned marketplace plans’ coverage of abortion, usually with only very limited exceptions. Even living in a state that does not ban abortion coverage, however, is no guarantee that coverage is available or that if it is, consumers can easily find out about it before enrolling in a plan.

The insurance that I got under ACA kind of bothers me because I can only find a few women gynecologists under my plan which is Blue Choice silver and I have a co pay of $500 dollars if I have to go to the emergency room.

I am still a fan of the ACA and as I said I am glad we passed it. I just wish there were more victories for women in it as it seems it is limiting victories for women.
